What Would You Say To Mariah?

single momCities4Life wants to provide web-based, sidewalk counseling tips and training through the “What Would You Say?” posts. Not only is this good practice for thinking on your feet during everyday encounters you might have with people who oppose your worldview, but it is also good training for those who want to do Frontline Ministry outside of abortion mills. And remember, Scripture addresses the root of these issues. Let’s look at a common scenario together and some ways to address this common objection.

What Would You to say to Mariah?

You are ministering outside the abortion mill and you get the opportunity to speak with a young lady who is coming to abort her child. She shares with you that she has already has children and that at this time, she doesn’t feel that she can not handle another child. Prayerfully and compassionately, here are some things that we can share and ask Shannon to help her to reconsider her decision.

“There are always challenges to raising children no matter how prepared or unprepared we may feel. This does not justify taking the life of your child.”

“No child is a mistake. Regardless of their timing or the circumstances surrounding their conception. Every child is precious is in the eyes of God.”

“The baby in the womb is no less human than your children, who you have birthed. How can you justify taking the life of any of your children?”

“You are already a mother to this child. If you choose to abort, you will be the mother of a dead baby as opposed to a living baby.”

“The act of abortion, can not be undone. How will you be able to live with the guilt the rest of your life of knowing that you took the life of your own child?”

“We have resources and agencies that can help support you throughout this pregnancy and afterwards. Will you let us help you?”

“It is difficult to be a single mother but there are many single moms who have overcome the odds without aborting their children. Could I connect you with a mentor, who has been in your shoes, to help you through this time and to encourage you?”

“Have you considered giving your child up for adoption? Even though you may not have difficult circumstances in your life right now, there are many families out there who are and who are unable to have children of their own. Have you thought of how much a blessing it would be to bless another family with this precious life?”

“Do you know that we have free ultrasound services here today? Why don’t you take the time to see your baby before making this decision today?”

“Abortion is not the answer to the fears and anxiety that you are experiencing. Jesus Christ is. Let me tell you what He did on your behalf on the Cross and how much He loves you.”
